When should I choose SurTec 650?

SurTec 650 is ideal for aluminum parts that require enhanced corrosion resistance, particularly within aerospace, electronics, and industrial applications. 

What materials can SurTec 650 be applied to?

At Protolabs Network, SurTec 650 is available for aluminium alloys, although it is not recommended for aluminium 7050 or 7075.

Is SurTec 650 electrically conductive?

Yes. One of the key benefits of SurTec 650 is that it provides corrosion protection while maintaining electrical conductivity, making it suitable for applications such as electronic housings and enclosures.

Does SurTec 650 affect part tolerances?

SurTec 650 is a thin conversion coating. For parts ordered through Protolabs Network, specified tolerances are met after coating.

What surface finish can I expect with SurTec 650?

SurTec 650 can be applied to CNC-machined aluminium parts with an as-machined surface roughness of Ra 3.2 μm. Machining marks remain visible, so the finish is considered non-cosmetic.
